Whether you’re starting your day with their renowned full Welsh breakfast, indulging in the satisfying meaty muffin stack, or savoring a classic eggs benedict, the quality of the food is consistently rated 10/10. The praises from regulars like James Wood underscore the café’s staying power in a world where many eateries come and go. His fond memory of lunch at Cafe Brava, even years after relocating, signals a lasting affection rooted in the delicious dishes they serve.
It’s not just the food that enchants but also the atmosphere. Picture yourself sipping a rich cappuccino alongside a refreshing non-alcoholic Bloody Mary while soaking in the lively street life of Pontcanna. El Graham’s experience epitomizes the cafe’s ability to provide comfort, even when bustling with activity. This combination of fantastic food and superlative service makes Cafe Brava a must-visit.
Of course, no meal is complete without a sweet ending. Guests have raved about the pancakes with syrup, which only add to the reasons for repeated visits. Feedback from Sue D showcases the diverse options available, from hearty breakfasts to soul-soothing brunch dishes.
Even on busy weekends, as noted by Elif Oztemiz, the wait is often worth it, especially when accompanied by the warmth of the sun and the promise of a satisfying meal. The slight wait is a testament to Cafe Brava's popularity—and believe us, the star-studded food is worth the anticipation.
In conclusion, Cafe Brava is more than just a café; it’s a vibrant part of the Cardiff community. “ Lovely food with fabulous service from the staff. Little cafe on the street, where people wander around with friends and dogs. Enjoy a good time here. ”
“ I had lunch here alone today while I was waiting for my boyfriend, the staff were so lovely and even though it was very busy they were kind and attentive - shout out Lee who’s lovely! I had the cappuccino, the non alc Bloody Mary and the meaty muffin stack, all of which were 10/10. Will be back tomorrow for brunch with bf in tow! ”
“ I’ve been using Cafe Brava since it opened back in 1997, initially as a sandwich and lunchtime place when I had an office down the road. I moved away during Covid but still return to Cardiff every six weeks and always go in for lunch - sometimes a quick one, sometimes more leisurely. The staff are superb, the cafe spotless and the food always fantastic. There are not many eateries that have the longevity of Brava, that speaks for itself. Bravo! PS. Their ‘full on’ Welsh Breakfast is the best you’ll get in Cardiff! ”
“ Visited Brava Cafe this morning for an impromptu breakfast and we couldn’t have been happier. Lovely decor, excellent service and delicious food. We had a veggie breakfast, scrambled eggs and salmon as well as pancakes and syrup, we couldn’t fault any of it. We'll be sure to visit time and again. ”
“ It was a really tasty breakfast. I liked eggs benedict! However the bagels were a bit small maybe. Still I was completely full when i finished. On sunday it was a bit crowded. We waited 15min on the outside tables which was okay since it was a sunny day :) ”
“ Had a brilliant breakfast burrito and my partner had a gorgeous full English. Staff really friendly and funny. ”
“ Brava is a brilliant gem in Pontcanna. The staff was really invested in making sure my meal was coeliac friendly and I had a delicious breakfast I felt safe eating. Thank you Cafe Brava! (Coffee was really great too!) ”
“ As local greasy spoons go, this is a cut above the rest. I used to live above this row of shops, and pontcanna is a cool place to visit let alone live, so I was blessed. I visited once or twice a week for a solid year, I'd always park my classic Jaguars opposite or to the side of their shop. Sitting and watching the world go by, enjoying some very decent breakfasts and brunches, there's not many better corner spots in cardiff to enjoy such a environment.. It's pricey, but it's in keeping with other simular establishments. Well worth a visit. I still go back every so often with friends, as pictured. As always, bacon well done, and please make sure my beans are HOT Love. G ”
